What’s in the bread? Dedication, drive, passion and teamworkOn September 9, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
My story at Grand Central Baking Company began back in the late ’90s where I took a job as a dishwasher From that point I was very intrigued by the baking process and I just kept asking that I should be considered for the next available position. Are you passionate about learning? If somebody’s passionate about learning, then we can teach somebody how to be a great baker. If they have a good work ethic, and they’re really driven to learn, we can make that happen. Every step in the process is just as important. So whether it’s the person chopping the rosemary for the rosemary rolls, to the mixer, to the person loading dough for the buns and rolls, every step is super important. Every day we have all these steps in place where there’s great communication and teamwork to make sure that each tray of bread is the best quality. Every step Is critical and if we don’t communicate about it and we don’t care, then we’re not going to deliver what the customer expects. So you really need that drive and passion. Teamwork is so critical to making a high-quality product. And the understanding that you’re going to be doing a thousand of something and not just two. There are so many great things about what the company does not only for the employees, but outside in the community. Excellence comes to mind, top of the list. There’s this passion and excitement for we’re doing from whether it’s ingredients we’re sourcing, training, education. Everybody is fully committed to creating the best, most delicious food possible.
