[VLOG 245] – The importance of teamwork…On October 17, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
– Oh, that’s heavy. Morning guys. Today we are off to my
favorite city in the UK. We’re going to Manchester. (upbeat music) (car beeping) Hey guys, I’ve just arrived
in Manchester and parked up because two very exciting
things are happening today. Number one, I’ve got three
face to face interviews for the marketing executive role, so super excited about this. I think I interviewed maybe
10 people over the phone, shortlisted three. So by the end of this
morning I should know who the marketing executive is. Fingers crossed, it goes well. And then secondly, I’m
working with two guys who also work in this
office space with me. (heavy guitar rock music) and they’re part of the,
or they’ve taken desks at COLONY co-working. And they’re behavioral
experts, they’re web designers. They focus on user experience
so they’re putting new pages together for me for the landing
pages for the online course and the expansion to make it
easier for people to understand what it is and if it’s
the right fit for them. So one till three today
they’re gonna show me what they’ve come up with. I’m a bit nervous, but
I’m super excited as well. First time I’ve done anything like this, so we’ll see. (door beeps) Did you see that? I was so excited to use my
fob that I finally remembered and there door was already open. Matt’s desk is coming together nicely, new screen, new, what do ya call ’em? Keyboards. Nice, nice, bit jealous. See these are things I don’t know, I only ever get to come,
like, once a month. I think this is twice this
month, this is a new record. And I’m here today
’cause we’re interviewing for our new marketing
exec, super exciting. I didn’t know there were secret cupboards for your permeant stash of food. This is news to me, let’s have a look. (Lisa vocalizing)
(relaxed music) Hey guys, how you doin’? So interviews are done, super
impressed with the candidates. I’ve had a great time. So me and Matt have
interviewed them together and I’m about to make the phone call. Probably in an hour I’m
gonna make a phone call to the person who is gonna be the second hire at Dare To Grow. So you will meet her very soon. We’ll obviously get her in the vlogs. She is very, very cool. She’s got a great range of skills she’s gonna bring to the team. Including photography, which is amazing. So I can just see how well
her and Matt can work together at events, at things we
do, going out vlogging in the the streets of Manchester. It’s gonna be amazing. So it’s really crazy guys, ’cause when you first start your business, you do so much of it by yourself and you think, will I ever
be able to hire somebody? Will I ever be able to afford this? When you make your first hire and you realize how much time it frees up and how much more you can focus on growth and working with your audience, and stuff that only you can do. You think, god, why
didn’t I do this sooner? Today is the day we hire the second employee of Dare To Grow. I think we’re daring greatly. (upbeat rock music) – Nappy rash cream. I don’t know why it’s nappy rash cream. – [Lisa] What are you doing Matt? – I’m creaming my tattoos. (Lisa laughs) – [Lisa] That doesn’t sound right. – It is what it is. (Lisa laughs) – So Matt’s just been all
the way down to London to get this tattoo, and how long did you
have to wait to get it? The hand script on? – What, how long did it – Yeah.
– actually take to do? – No, how long did you
have to wait in the queue? – Oh, to get an appointment?
– Yeah. – Like, two, three months almost.
– Oh, that’s not so bad. – Yeah it’s not too bad.
– So he’s waited, two, three months to
go and get this tattoo, but it is beautiful. Check this out. (relaxed music) This is the best bit,
offering people jobs. (phone ringing) – [Amy] Hey, hello. – Hi, is this Amy? Hi Amy, it’s Lisa from Dare To Grow. – [Amy] Hi, how are you mate? – I’m really good, how are you? – [Amy] Yeah, not too bad thank you. – Good, good. How do you feel after your interview? – [Amy] Oh, yeah of course I’m
excited, really enjoyed it. I was really hoping. (phone drowned out) Hoping to hear the next step. – Yes, well, you’ll be delighted to hear that after to speaking to everybody today that we would love to offer you the job, and welcome you into the team. – [Amy] Oh awesome, that’s
really good, thank you. I’d be mad to decline. – Amazing, it was a
great interview I knew– (video tape squeals) Amazing, all right, thanks. Well done Amy, see you next week. – [Amy] Cheers. – Cheers.
– Speak to you soon. – Buh-bye.
– Buh-bye. – We’ve just hired our second employee, our team member in Dare To Grow. That is Amy, she’s amazing. She is starting on Wednesday, which is… Today is Friday, she starts
in four, five days time. Think we better get ready. (upbeat music) I just wanna take this moment
to say to you guys watching, my regular vlog watchers. The people who message me on Instagram. People who you’ve shared this with, like if you’re watching and you’re new, welcome to Dare To Grow. This is the best journey of my life, this is the ride of my life. I feel so grateful and, just like, gratitude just isn’t the word, it needs to be so much bigger. Privileged? Grateful? There’s another word. I can’t believe this is my life. And yes, I’m doing the work,
yes I’m building stuff, yes I’m taking punts, yes
I’m moving through things. But I cannot be here without you, and this is what makes this
so special, it’s a community. We are on this journey
together and I just wanna say, even if I don’t know who you
are, if you haven’t commented. I see you, I know what
you’re up to in the world, I know that you’re exploring,
you’re pushing the boundaries, you’re trying, you’re taking a punt, you’re asking the question, is it possible for me to change my life? Can I really find my
purpose on this planet? Will a day come when I can
truly sit there and say, I am making a living
doing what I fucking love. And I’m telling you,
the answer is yes, yes and (beeping) yes.
