Top Team Building Games – Who Stands Where? #40On August 12, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
During the exercise the team will form a line on one side of the room. The trainer has prepared statements matching themes that are relevant within the group. When the statement “Feeling isolated within the group” is being played the trainer will name statements matching this theme. For example: I think people don’t listen to me enough This statements has been prepared beforehand by the trainer. When someone agrees with this statement he may take a step forward in the room. Other than the statements called out by the trainer, this exercise is practiced in complete silence. In this case four candidates recognised themselves in the statements. The trainer names the second statement. Sometimes I have the feeling people gossip about me. In this case two participants recognise themselves in the statement and they take one step forward. The trainer keeps on naming the statements he prepared. “I think I don’t fit in the group.” I’m not entirely sure if people really like me. I feel relieved when I can go home after a day at work. After each statement has been made and everyone who recognised himself in the statement has put a step forward in the room the team may look around and see how everyone has divided themselves concerning the theme “feeling isolated within the group”. Next a new theme will be introduced. For example: “Enjoying your work.” The statements for this theme will be named by the trainer. When I wake up I look forward to going to work. The participants that share this belief step forward. I get a pleasant feeling when I see my colleagues. My job gives me energy. I laugh a lot with my colleagues. It will become clear how everyone in the group sees himself regarding the theme “Enjoying your work. Some people have been taken many steps and are enjoying their work a lot and other people that haven’t take any steps during this theme can ask themselves how they can enjoy their work a bit more. The participants can look around to see who stands where. The participants will get a clear view of how their colleagues are related to the theme “enjoying your work”. After the trainer has worked with a few themes everyone will sit in a circle and evaluates the exercise. Did the participants expect that their colleagues would end in the places regarding the certain themes? How was it not to talk during the exercise? Did the participants feel the need to talk during the exercise? The trainer guides the team and applies variations. What kind of variations you can read below this video on YouTube.
