The AC50 Gets a New HomeOn September 1, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
Today we’re pulling out.. The AC50, winner of the America’s Cup in Bermuda actually. She’s been locked up in a container for a couple years now, so we’re pulling her out, and we’re gonna put her on the side of the building. Then everyone can have a look at it. It’s pretty cool. It’s a little bit nostalgic. She was a fine weapon to use when we managed to bring the Cup home. It’s cool to be bringing her out and putting her on show again. We’ve put her all back together in all the glory. Now she’s gonna go back up on the building so everyone can have a look at her, enjoy her and see what she looks like close up. It’s about time everyone appreciated her, eh? Well, it’s about 3.45am. We’re going to lift her up with the crane. First onto her vertical side. Then we’re going to place her up onto the building for display. It’s a little fiddly getting into place, but she’s up there now. There’s not much room between the foils and the roof, but we wanted to get her as high as possible. The early morning cyclists and runners are going past and their stopping and having a look and a little “wow”. Which is pretty cool. She’s tight. We pushed her as high as we can and it looks really good. Really good.
