Team Building Small Groups – I knew I was Young #95On August 12, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
During the exercise the team sits in a circle. You give the team sentences they have to finish starting with the words: I knew I was.. old. The trainer starts. I knew I was old when I bought a beer and the bartender didn’t ask me for my id. I knew I was old when someone asked me the directions on the street and appealed to me using the word ‘sir’. Continue like this untill each participant has had the turn. You proceed with the next scentence starting: I knew I was young. I knew I was young when I visited my grandma last week. She told me that I have my whole life ahead of me. I knew I was young when I ran a half marathon last week. Go on like this untill everyone had the turn. Now you tell the team to finish the scentence starting with the words: I knew I fitted into this team when I,.. I knew I fitted into this team when I got a birthday cake from my team mates and they even sang a birthday song for me. I knew I fitted into this team when I realised everyone likes my silly sense of humor. Go on like this untill everyone has had the turn. At the last part of the exercise you point to a specific team member of which the other participants tell when they knew who he or she is. I knew who was John when,.. he helped me with my project. I knew who was John when we had beers together and he told me everything about his youth. Go on like this until everyone told when he knew who is John. Proceed doing this with each person from the team. The trainer guides the team and applies variations to the exercise. What kind of variations you can read below this video on Youtube.
