Team Activities – A penny for your thoughts #109On August 12, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
Prior to the exercise tell everyone to take ten coins. The value doesn’t matter, but make sure the year on each coin is later in time than the year the youngest person of the group is born. Put all the coins in a jar. Each person picks a coin from the jar. Everyone sees which year is written on the coin and thinks of a negative and a positive memory which has happened to him in that specific year. You point to the first person that shares his memories. In this case: 2010. This is the year that I still worked at a previous company which I didn’t like at all, the people there where so unfriendly which was very negative. The positive memory is that I quit and I started working at this company. I liked it immediately. Now the others can react if they experienced a similar situation. If so, they can share their stories as well. I once worked at a company where my boss literally threw things at his employees. It was horrible. I like working here too, it’s more relaxed compared to the previous places I’ve worked. Now it’s the next person turn. I’ve got the year: 1984. This is the year I moved out of my parents house and started living in a dorm. In the beginning I was very homesick which was negative, but after a while I really enjoyed myself living with other students so it turned out to be a positive experience. Again, if there is someone who recognised one or both experiences they can tell it. I remember I didn’t like living in a dorm. I moved to a place on my own where I found more peace. I loved living in a dorm, eating together every night was amazing. Go on until everyone shared a negative and a positive memory regarding the year on their coin.
