Teaching Ideas – The Wishing Well #51On August 13, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
During the exercise the team will stand in a circle. You tell the team they are standing around a wishing well and that someone from the team can call out loud into the wishing well what he wishes to change regarding the team. Someone calls out into the wishing well: I wish we will have a bit more fun with each other and laugh more often. Every one who agrees and wishes the same now repeats the wish out loud like an echo coming out of the well. In this case a lot of people are wishing the same and agree, so it’s a loud echo. The next person calls out his wish into the well. I wish we will have more focus in the group when we work together. Just a few participants agree with this wish and saying the echo coming out of the well. In this case the wisher hears an echo that is not so loud. Keep on doing this untill everyone said his wish into the wishing well and heard if it was a loud or a soft echo coming back from the well. Regarding to the wish that in the end had the loudest echo, in this case: I wish that from now on we give each other more compliments will be thought of ideas how this can actually be carried out. Someone start with an idea how this can be put into practise. He says: We can oblige each other to give someone a compliment every day. Everyone that agrees with the idea repeats the idea like an echo. In this case it’s not a strong echo because only one participant was repeating the idea. A next person calls out his idea into the wishing well: When on a certain moment you think something positive about someone than you will tell it to that person. In this case there is a loud echo. Everyone gets a turn to call out an idea into the wishing well and to hear how loud the echo sounds. The idea with the strongest echo wins and can be carried out to let the wish with the stongest echo come out. The trainer guides the team and applies variations to the exercise.
