Stronger Together DHEC and SCHA Stroke AwarenessOn February 25, 2020 by Raul Dinwiddie
My office and the South Carolina Hospital Association work closely together to provide information to the public about access to care for stroke rehabilitation services, for stroke health improvement programs, and access to care for rural areas within the state. SCHA and DHEC have a long history of partnering on clinically-focused programs, stroke care being one of them. A lot of the work that we do is through our South Carolina hospitals and EMS agencies. So DHEC and SCHA collaborate to support their efforts. It’s about saving lives. Every 40 seconds in the United States someone has a stroke and it is one of the leading causes of death in SC. The work that SCHA and DHEC do together is vitally important. We promote healthy people living in healthy communities by reaching out to the rural communities within the state, so that they have access to services that they are not readily available to receive. My office and the South Carolina Hospital
Association have a shared goal. That’s to save lives and lessen the
disabilities related to stroke.
