StrangeAthon Team Witch Challenges [CC]On September 21, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
I normally don’t do readathons like this
but like Rachael asked, and she’s so sweet. And like she goes really hard on
her goth aesthetic. Not that I care about that or anything… Hi BookTube I am a Rebecca without my
Sarah. Or my summery flowers cuz fuck summer. I’m done. I took them down.
Well they’re over there. Today I’m talking about the my StrangeAthon challenges. I am the
leader of the witches. Um honestly this is one of those readathons where you
like, there’s teams, and you get points, and I-I really I don’t kinda join these.
And I don’t tend to join these because I know I’m gonna let everybody down. Like
everyone. I’m so sorry. So this is probably the point where I, like as your
team leader, if you join me, which you should. This is the point where I’m like,
“we’re gonna win! We’re gonna get all the points! Or treats. Because you get treats
in this– [Cat meow] Hi kitty. You can’t join I’m so sorry. Please don’t
tug on the wires and knock down the camera again… This is the point where I’m
like, “we’re gonna totally win”, but listen, I’m tired, and old, and I’ve had a few
Cthulhu cups of wine, so I’m gonna be honest. You want to join this team if
you’re like ready to lose. So all I ask of you, if you join my team, is that you
read when you can, and that if you make a TBR video, please go hard on the
aesthetics. Because I love that shit. I want to see more. So anyway, the whole
point of this read-a-thon. Rachael came up with this like whole system where you’re
trick-or-treating around houses, and it’s very cute and I’ll have like a little
map and stuff. And there’s information below. Hopefully I put it. I have to edit
this tonight still and it’s like 9 p.m. Every team has six challenges. Two of the
challenges every team’s gonna be doing. Lemme… I wrote down notes. The other teams
are Undead, which Rachel is doing. And Monsters, which is run by Sophie I’ll link
below. And Tricking Kids, who is led by Jasmine.
Aaand… I guess I’ll just get in the challenges. The first challenge everyone is doing, it
it’s called Halloween icon, and you read a book with something iconic to
Halloween on the cover. I think this is really um this tends to mean a lot of
Halloween or October readathons, so if you’re doing others, this will fit. God
there’s so many readathons in October. I love it. it’s the best, The next challenge
is The Cabin, and it’s to read a book with isolation as the theme. I like
specifically requests this challenge because I was like, that’s the best. The
next challenge is Haunted: read a book from your TBR that you’re intimidated by.
I also requested this one. I regret it. Okay I know I said that you should be
prepared to lose, but ummm still I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I’m making you read a
book you’re intimidated by. But also, you’re welcome, and also I don’t know
what the fuck book I’m gonna pick for this one because there’s like… I have a
lot of choices. Next is The Box: read a book with a
mystery. I love this because oh my god I have so many choices for this one too!
And then the next one is Witching Hour: read a book with a deadline. Y’all. I’m
gonna talk about this in just a second, cuz the last challenge, is Teammates and
it’s to read a book with your team in it, which for me as witches. Or to read the
group book, and the group book I picked accidentally fits every single challenge.
I didn’t even do that on purpose! Including the deadline one! And I got the
deadline challenge, and I was like, I’m not sure what book I’m gonna read for
this, and then I was thinking about the teen book… Perfect. Perfection. Okay listen,
you don’t have to read the team book for this challenge but if you… you know, you
should. Unless you don’t want to, I guess, and if you don’t want to, you like, like go.
Like just go, and don’t talk to me again. I’m just kidding (kind of). The team book that I
picked came out several years ago and is not getting the love and attention that
it deserves. Although the author is more well-known
now because she has published a more popular trilogy. I would like us all to
read The Girl From the Well by Rin Chupeco Listen. I’m like 60 percent sure there’s witches in this.
I feel like I should be more sure. But I read this one a really long time ago And like
there’s some witch books that have come out, but like, everyone’s read them, or has
been like done for a challenge like listen I loved Undead Girl Gang, but that
was in so many like readathon challenges last October. And just
recently, and it was dope, and that’s a good recommendation if you need a book
with witches, but The Girl From the Well is so fucking good. This book is from the
point of view and a vengeful ghost?! Who, like kills men, it’s the best. And she
stumbles upon a boy who has some kind of also vengeful ghost attached to him, and
she’s like, “whoa. What’s this? I’m gonna go ahead figure this shit out!” It has: the
Halloween icon on the cover. I think the paperback version has a
ghost on the cover. This has like crows? I’m counting it. It has an isolation
theme. It is a book with the mystery. It is a book with a deadline. It is
everything except a book you’re intimidated by on your TBR, unless you’re
afraid of this one and it’s on your TBR or you’re intimidated by it.
So, you are welcome because we all just nailed it. Team Witch. We just have to
read one book! Also please read The Girl From the Well, even if you don’t do
this read-a-thon and the sequel. The sequel. It’s so good. guys. I’m really into
this duology. Like it makes my heart so happy. Actually, I think I want to reread
them and then do a whole video about it… That’s like something else. Okay,
this is just supposed to be about umm StrangeAthon. Okay- Oh my god, I didn’t
tell you when StrangeAthon was. I am the worst host. Rachel, I don’t know why
you decided: “you know who would be good for this? Rebecca that dumb bitch who
never posts anything.” This is happening from October 13th through October
31st. I think I got everything else. If I didn’t, just ask me, I guess. Maybe I’ll
know by the time I you see the question.
