Save Library Part Dialog Improvements for TeamworkOn November 17, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
This video gives an overview of the “Teamwork” specific improvements of the “Save Library Part” Dialog. Let’s select the desired elements on either the “Floor Plan” or in the axonometric side view in the “3D” window. Activate the “File”,… “Libraries and Objects”,… “Save Selection as”,… “Object” menu command. The “Save Object” dialog appears. In the “Save Library Part to” pop-up let’s select the “Embedded Library”. Select the root folder on the left and then click the “New Folder” button. Enter the folder name and click the “Create” button. The newly created folder appears with a green overlay. Enter a name for the object, and then click “Save”. Let’s activate the “Library Manager”… Not only is the newly created folder overlaid with green, but the new object is as well. It means that these elements are editable but are not sent to the server. Select the root folder and then click the “Send and Receive” button. Right after sending the changes to the server, the folder and the new object appears as a normal reserved element with green dots. Let’s close the dialog. Select another desired element and activate the “Save Object” dialog again. Note: you can save the new object only in the folder that you reserved, otherwise the “Save” button and also the “New Folder” button are shown as inactive, and the “Teamwork Status” appears with a blue dot signifying “Free for Reservation”. Select the folder that you want to save the new object in and then click the “Reserve” button. Now you are able execute the save command. If another team member has reserved a folder, the teamwork status changes to red with a label of “Reserved by” plus the name of the owner. To save element to this folder you need to click the “Request” button and ask the team member to release the relevant folder. It is also possible to replace an existing object. In order to do this, you must first reserve this object or its parent folder. Select the target object and click the save button. A warning dialog appears where you must confirm the replacement by clicking the “Replace” button.
