Rockettes: Summer Series, Ep. 3 – Teamwork makes the Dream WorkOn November 6, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
Sarah: I grew up with the dream of being a
Rockette and now getting to teach them. I’m very passionate about not only performing
but teaching as well, and to see them go through this experience and come out a better dancer
and performer it’s inspiring. I really enjoy teaching the girls and watching them grow.
Adianna: We do a tremendous kick line that has 24 kicks. It starts out really sassy and
has to be really sharp, and then it changes mood.
Melinda: With Rockette work it depends a lot on the entire group, so we all have to work
together to make the most pristine line and most pristine choreography we can. We have
this really cool section that’s where it’s just two girls together, so they get to do
partners. Each represents one side, stage right or stage left. We split them up in two
rooms and taught them their side and then we got to bring them together. By the end
of the week, to see them really work together and connect with each other was really exciting.
Paige: That whole dance considers a bunch of team work because during the partner part
we both have to be on and on point and behind each other if we’re supposed to be behind
each other or right on the side if we’re supposed to be on the side. It’s definitely the concept
of both of us getting to the point where we trust each other, that we’re both going to
be on the line and that everything else is going to work out.
Gianna: This week it has been one of the best weeks of my life just because I met so many
people from different parts of the country. It’s been a really great time.
