Robbie and Stephen Amell Discuss Working Together on Code 8On March 10, 2020 by Raul Dinwiddie
-You two are so cool, because you also get to play
superheroes on TV, which is so cool.
-Yeah. -But I have to ask,
are there any skills you have in real life that could be
considered superpowers? Stephen, let’s start with you. -When we first moved to L.A., I think, to this day,
Robbie and I remain undefeated at beer pong.
-Yeah. [ Laughter ]
-That is a bold, bold statement. -No, if it’s just me, I’m okay. -Just me, I’m fantastic. [ Laughter ] But together —
-But together — -We’re as good as I am alone. [ Laughter ] -Wow. You hear that? That sounds like
an open challenge. -Oh, man.
-Now, Robbie, I gotta ask you, who do you think
would win a fight between Stephen’s
Green Arrow and your Firestorm? No pressure.
What do you think? -Well —
-Let the people know. -I mean, I would never
answer this question, but Steve’s character
has a bow and arrow… [ Laughter ] …and my character
has superpowers. [ Laughter ] But I would never
answer this question. [ Laughter ] -Stephen, what do you think? -I don’t know. I’d figure out which one’s been
around longer and go with that. [ Audience “Ohs” ] [ Laughter and applause ] -I’ve died like five times
on that show. -Whoo! Now, you two actually worked
together for the first time on this movie, “Code 8.”
-Yes. -What was that experience like,
and what can we expect? -It was amazing.
-It was great. -Yeah.
-Yeah. -I bet you there’s someone
in this audience that contributed to the movie.
-What do you mean? -We have over 28,500 people donated to
our Indiegogo campaign and helped the movie
become a reality. -Wow.
-Yeah. -That is incredible.
-Yeah. [ Cheers and applause ] -And so what was it like
working together? -Exhausting.
-Well, it was lovely. [ Laughter ] And we got to shoot —
You know, both of our families are still in Toronto,
and we got to shoot in Toronto. -Yeah.
-And the whole thing was just — The whole thing was — Like, really,
it was a dream come true. Do you know how hard it is
to take something that’s just a script and,
you know, turn it into, you know, a pitch. But then to actually
hear them yell, “Roll sounds,” and shoot a scene together and realize that we weren’t
shooting on an iPhone and that this
was actually happening… [ Laughter ]
-Mm-hmm. -…was pretty incredible.
-That is so cool.
