Putting Teamwork into Practice: Haley ColemanOn September 27, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
Hi. I’m Haley Coleman. I’m a medical
student at Northeast Ohio Medical University in the College of Medicine.
So at NEOMED, I’m involved in Outreach which is a partner of SOAR Student-Run Free Clinic. But since the beginning of SOAR, we’ve had pharmacy
students participate in it. For interprofessional education were told from the time we are M1’s or first-year students essentially
that we really need to collaborate with the pharmacy students. It’s been really
fun to work with the pharmacy students. I never really realized how helpful they
were going to be, but now like going into the clinic when you see a patient and
then you come out and they are on around 15 medications what are the
contraindications between some, the pharmacy students know right away. So,
I want a pharmacist in my future clinic. I want to be a family medicine
doctor and I definitely want a pharmacist because they are so
invaluable members of the health care team.
