My name is Sinead Mooney and I am the new
Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care. I have worked with older and vulnerable people
for many years and understand the challenges people face when seeking the right support
during times of need. My priority is ensuring that those most in
need of our support are provided for. I’m also focused on building on and developing
further the good work to bring health and social care in our county closer together
for the benefit of our residents. My name is Matt Furniss and I am taking on
the role of Cabinet Member for Highways. My priority is investing in the infrastructure
needed for Surrey’s continued success – and that includes our roads. It is also vital that we target investment
where it can achieve greatest results for local taxpayers. I also aim to bring cleaner, greener
transport to Surrey to help improve air quality and also make it easier for pedestrians and cyclists
to get around safely. My name is Julie Iles and I am the new Cabinet
Member for All-Age Learning. I will champion learning throughout people’s
lives – from the earliest years, through school and on into later life. As part of that, I’ll be building on work
we’ve already started to reshape our libraries and cultural services so that they fit better with
modern life. I’ll also be focused on continuing our work
to transform services for children with special educational needs and disabilities so that
support is provided as early as possible and nearer to home, reducing the need for them
to go to schools out of the county.
