Jim & Verna Payton Emphasize Teamwork and FamilyOn September 10, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
We are Jim and Verna Payton from Neosho, Missouri. We’ve been trucking since I got out of the army back in 88′. We bought our first truck in 89 and it’s been either in, out, on, or under a truck with us 37 years. We are in the Bennett Commercial, well, I guess it would be the Bennett Government section. You know some of the Some of the benefits driving as a team is you cover a lot of ground in a hurry and you’re with your family member. There’s just lots of things to see and do. The thing that we like most about working for Bennett is that it’s a super nice family atmosphere. It’s not like some other companies we’ve been with where you’re pretty much on your own, once you get dispatched you’re on your own. This way you know that if there’s an issue, day or night it’s always a phone call away. I mean even at 2 o’clock in the morning you make phone call there’s gonna be a body on the phone. *What would you say is the best memory you two have shared out on the road?* Wow! You know About fifteen or sixteen years ago we homeschooled our kids. I think that would probably be the best one. We, as a team, before all the security issues we had our two girls with us and and we homeschooled them for two years as a family on the road together. And we were always terribly afraid after we did that that we had really screwed our kids up but that’s some of their fondest memories too. And if you ask them, we knew that we’d screw them up. No peers to be around none of this stuff. They said no this was the best. It was the best family environment And some of their fondest memories was family. Family is very important.
