Fall & What it Means to a LocalOn October 18, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
Hey guys Heather Connor here with Black Diamond Resort Group and I am coming to you live from my home office instead of my office office. Today’s show is going to be a little bit different than what you’re used to seeing normally I jump into a very local topic and I thought that would really be relative to timing to change gears with you guys a little bit today. It is fall and Crested Butte, my morning hikes with the dogs are definitely chilly, it’s about 25 degrees in the shade right now and it is cold I still hiking my flip-flops so that’s a little chilly right now I might have to give two real shoes here pretty soon for those morning dog hikes. We just finished celebrating the local Vinotok festival and for those of you that aren’t familiar that is a very very local tradition, pagan ritual, in which some folks say that it was kind of the beginning of Burning Man and that it was kind of the some of the what do you call it the inspiration behind the Burning Man festival. So we just did that locally what that means for me personally and for you know a lot of my friends here that our business owners is that we finally get to take a deep breath. The summers even though we’re a ski town or summers are by and far our busiest season and it’s really easy for us to get imbalanced at this time and so you know this is something that I wanted to kind of record it’s just not about real estate it’s really about our lives here in Crested Butte and hey hey Lydia how are you, hi Chris how are you, thanks for joining me today you guys. So like I mentioned this could be a little bit different it’s going to be a little bit more about our lives and little bit less about real estate data so in general it’s been a really incredibly busy summer with both businesses we have the management business that handles the vacation rentals and we have been in a in a big transition for that company that’s been really great, but a lot of work. Then on the real estate side we’ve also been in the big building process really working hard at trying to create a lot of tools for you guys that are looking to purchase here and of course for all our locals that are looking to sell and doing both quite frankly it’s a lot and then trying to keep a balance of life and I also just moved recently so just trying to keep a balanced life over running two, businesses being a dog mom I know that sounds silly it’s not the same as being a mom mom but but being a dog mom and making sure that I take them out on hikes and then of course taking care my employees, taking care my clients, spending time with my friends and ultimately to try and take care of myself which has been really hard quite frankly it’s been working seven days a week lately which I know we have to do it sometimes that’s just our industry and when you have to do work you have to do work but seven days a week is not a lifestyle that’s sustainable, so for all my realtor friends out there you know you don’t know say. So fall, Vinotok festival this is the time that we finally get to slow down and you know this is something that I had emailed out to my staff this morning actually I’m gonna read it to you and basically I just here’s what I said I was like you guys this summer has been so busy and this has definitely been one for the books and what I mean by that is that since you guys aren’t a part of our staff and are in our businesses what you don’t know is that we’ve had so many changes and we have just been working our tails off over here and basically there’s been a lot of changes but there’s also been a lot that has not changed for us here and with everything that’s happening I just want to share some thoughts that helped me get through the tough days and they’re have been some woopers the summer and then also appreciate the good which quite frankly are most days. So living in a place like Crested Butte it’s challenging, it’s why everyone can’t make it work here and it takes special effort and a special results to live a mountain paradise so let’s remember this every day that we wake up we have choices we can choose to just show up or we can choose to “show up” and we can choose to repeat a non-productive routine or we could choose to learn something new every day we can choose comfort which is usually based out of fear or we can choose discomfort based out of growth and in the end you guys we choose excuses or we choose results so which one are you and what type of team member, family, parent, child, sister, brother or friend do you prefer to be so that is my kind of random Facebook live today and you know next week we’ll jump back into our usual real estate data but in general right now we’re looking at taking a little bit of a slower step focusing on getting balance back into our lives and then of course getting back at it and then bringing more tools for you guys to help you make your decisions as you’re looking to also try to live in our Mountain paradise here so thanks for giving me a little leeway this week you guys it is good to see you and I will see you next Tuesday.
