EPA’s Revised Worker Protection StandardOn October 12, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
Each year more than two million U.S.
farm workers help provide the food on America’s dinner tables and each year
thousands of farm workers are over exposed to pesticides on the job. Over
exposure to pesticides can make people sick leading to missed days of work and
school, lost wages and medical bills for farm workers and their families. That’s
why EPA is revising the Worker Protection Standard. Because farm workers
deserve the same protection from hazards as workers in other professions have had
for decades. The updated Worker Protection Standard
will improve training, access to information and safety measures to
protect the farm workers we all depend on for healthy food on our tables. Let’s
give farm workers the protections they deserve.
