(Eng Sub) Which Surgeries Are Better Done Together? SYNERGISTIC PLASTIC SURGERY COMBINATIONSOn March 3, 2020 by Raul Dinwiddie
Hello. I’m Dr. JongWoo Lim from “Plastic Surgery Honey Pot” of ID Hospital. “Synergistic Plastic Surgey Combinations” explained to you by a surgeon who graduated twice from Seoul National University Today, we will talk about what types of surgeries can have synergistic effect with each other. Most people with big and wide face are generally concerned with having a flat face as well, which makes their face look even bigger and wider. This is actually true. Even with the same size of the face, more dimensional face compared to a flat face appears to have smaller and younger looking face. So many patients decide to have face contouring surgery together with rhinoplasty, which gives more dimension to the nose, thus maximizing the effect of the surgery in making the face smaller and younger-looking. Hence face contouring and rhinoplasty would have a synergistic effect. And if your nose bridge is high enough but the forehead, front cheek, and nasolabial line areas are too flat which makes you look dull and old, having a face contouring surgery together with fat graft would be synergistic. It helps making dimensions by adding more volume on your face, hence making your face smaller and younger as well. Additionally, even if your bone has been shaped well , but the skin is sagging, the well shaped bone would not be visible. So those with some age especially, or even a lot of younger people with less relative skin elasticity because of outdoor activities being exposed to the sun, or those with chubby cheeks Having face contouring surgery together with acculift or lifting surgeries would be synergistic. This will enhance even more the well-defined face bone shape from the face contouring surgery. To sum up, the synergistic surgeries which can be done together with face contouring surgery would be Rhinoplasty, fat graft, and lifting. So if there is a need for any you from the three surgeries mentioned, it might be more recommended to have the surgery together simultaneously with face contouring surgeries with just one anesthesia experience. Don’t I sound like a medicine peddler? lol Many people also use the the word ‘profile’. Strictly saying, the profile pertains to the ‘side view of the face’. Why this is important is because even during the ancient times, when we look at the Egyptian mural paintings, the side profile was very evident, and this would mean that the ancient people also thought that the side profile represented the most characteristic features of a person. What is then most obvious from the side profile? It’s the forehead, nose, lips, and chin. These are the components of the side profile. So along with rhinoplasty, having fat graft, fillers, or implants in the forehead, to provide more dimensions together with the nose will have a more defined and beautiful side profile from the forehead until the chin. On the other hand, if the chin is too short, the lips would look more protruded, and the nose bridge will look lower than the actual height. The protruded lips, nose, and the chin is one separate unit. So making the nose bridge higher together with improving the short chin, will give you an effect of improving the lip shape and the side profile as well. The forehead, nose, lips, and the tip of the chin, to improve on these areas which comprise the the side profile of your face, would have a very powerful synergistic effect aesthetically. And lastly, between the face contouring surgery and two-jaw surgery, I have explained when to have face contouring surgery or two-jaw surgery even from the previous videos. And because of this, there are people who think of these two surgeries separately. Definitely, there are cases of two-jaw surgery to see an effect, and there are also cases who will benefit even without the two-jaw surgery. But high percentage of patients who undergo two-jaw surgery need face contouring surgery as well. It is because the two-jaw surgery, just as I have mentioned before, it mostly concerns about fixing the malocclusion cases of the teeth. But if you want to have a smaller face or have a smoother contour of the face, you should not have two-jaw surgery only but face contouring surgery as well, such as cheek bone reduction or v-line surgery to fix the contour of your face. When you have two-jaw surgery with face contouring surgery in combination, The malocclusion will be improved and the shape of the face will be prettier. Hence there is no need for us to think that one can just get to have only one of the two surgeries. So today, we talked about the synergistic surgeries which can be done together. What is important is to think about the balance in consideration for surgeries. So we discussed in terms of broader perspective, to encourage you to look at the forest not just a tree. I hope this was a help to you. I will be back again with more helpful information. Goodbye, everyone!
