Cooperative Games – Copy the Building #63On August 12, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
Necessities for this exercise: as many lego bricks as possible. During the exercise the team forms groups of three. The trainer creates a lego piece with some of the bricks and places it somewhere in the room where the groups of three can’t see it. The place must be at the same distance of every trio. Make sure that each group of three has enough lego bricks to rebuild the lego creation. The best is to give them as much as lego bricks as possible so they dont know which bricks will be used. One person of the group of three is the instructor and the other two are the builders. The goal of the game is to recreate the lego piece as fast and accurate as possible. Every instructor walks to the lego piece and remembers as much as possible of what he has seen walks back to the two builders and instructs them how to rebuild the building. Start with a layer of eight red bricks next to each other and on top of that a yellow layer half the size of the red one. He is positive the first red layer is recreated accurately, but he has doubts about the yellow layer. He walks back to the lego piece again and tries to remember as much as he can and walks back to the builders to give them new instructions. Remove half of the yellow layer and build on top of the remaining yellow bricks a green tower with the little square shaped lego bricks. He walks back again to the lego piece and sees that on top of the green tower is a blue lego brick. He walks back to give his final instruction. The builders now place the blue brick on top of the green tower and the instructor decides the lego piece has been accurately rebuild. When every group of three now thinks they have accurately rebuild the lego piece all the creations will be checked. The group of three that has build an accurate copy within the shortest time wins. The exercise will be evaluated. Which way of communicating is the most efficient? Is it better to give a lot of short instructions? Or is it more efficient to give a very long instruction? What can you do to speed up the proces next time? The trainer guides the team and applies variations to the exercise. What kind of variations you can read below this video on Youtube.
