Chicago Teachers Union reach tentative agreementOn January 29, 2020 by Raul Dinwiddie
Tonight, the Chicago Teachers
Union’s House of Delegates voted to approve a tentative agreement with the Chicago Public Schools. We believe this is an agreement which will produce real,
lasting benefits in our schools. It’s a contract which we believe will help transform public schools in Chicago. [Female Chanter] Whose schools? – [Crowd] Our schools! – [Female Chanter] Whose schools? – [Crowd] Our schools! We’ve never had class size enforcement in a contract ever in the history of a collective bargaining agreement with the Chicago Teachers Union. Never. And to have that in the contract is a substantial gain for the entire school district. – [Male Chanter] CT who? – [Crowd] CTU! – [Male Chanter] Who are we? – [Crowd] 73! This strike, like the
strike in West Virginia, in Oklahoma, in Arizona, in Los Angeles, these are all strikes
about ensuring that we have the support and the resources
that our kids need to thrive.
