Physical Activity Breaks) b0 b Colleen Evans:
b0 ‘a0 I’92m Colleen Evans. ‘a0I’92m a retired Physical Education professor from
the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.’a0 I’92ve taught in higher Ed for 15 years in
Physical Education and Teacher Education.’a0 And prior to that, 15 years experience at
the elementary level as a physical educator.
This morning we’92re working with classroom integrated activities a classroom teacher
may use, an aide may use, or they may also be taught in Physical Education and transfer
it to the classroom teacher. ‘a0A valuable activity to do with 4K up to first grade children
is work with simple action stories in your library. ‘a0The 4K children participated
in this morning was action words and dancing to a Barnyard Dance. ‘a0This is a book many
children are familiar with.
The difference is they are participating in the action of the story. ‘a0So to begin,
we’92re going to teach the children any new words that may be in the book.’a0 Example:’a0
Promenade. ‘a0The children worked on promenade or doing promenade. ‘a0Identifying it as
an action word before we read the story. ‘a0We practiced any of the words that may have been
difficult for them prior to reading the story. ‘a0As the story was read, the children participated
in each one of the words. b 01:39 b0
So rather than listening to ’93Stomp Your Feet!’94 they were stomping their feet, clapping
their hands, and working on a Barnyard Dance. ‘a0It’92s a wonderful way to get the children
to enjoy books, to have movement during reading time.’a0 To get out their wiggly jigglies
and to create a wonderful transition time again from lunch to the classroom, recess
to the classroom.
Anywhere where the children are a bit more fidgety and not ready to work.’a0 Taking
their favorite book, whether it’92s Going on a Bear Hunt, Barnyard Dance, any book in
the library that has action words the children can wiggle to.’a0 Thank you.
The video you saw this morning was completed
with children who did bring in their permission slips. ‘a0The remainder of the class was
participating in the back of the classroom, off camera. ‘a0The entire class of 24 students
participated in the story.
Good morning boys and girls. b Students:
b0 ‘a0 Good morning. b Colleen Evans:’a0

b0 Good job.’a0 Alright we’92re going to learn a new action word. ‘a0This one is called
’96what’92s your name? b Meleager:
b0 ‘a0 Meleager. b Colleen Evans:
b0 ‘a0 OK.’a0 Meleager, can you come and help me?
We’92re going to learn a word called promenade.
‘a0When I say promenade, you gently hold someone’92s hand and you walk in a little
circle. b
[Laughter]
Colleen Evans: b0 ‘a0 Thank you.
Freeze!
b [Noise]
b0 b Colleen Evans:’a0
b0 OK.’a0 First say the word after me.’a0 Promenade.

Great video but editing tip cut the intro down to 15 seconds and mention you review your creditials at the end. This works better because people and education our engaged with the video interaction with children sooner.
    Kind regards,
