2 Sex Workers Explain How They Feel Trapped in Their Jobs | Iyanla: Fix My Life | OWNOn October 11, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
[MUSIC] IYANLA VANZANT: Every day in every city in every state across this nation, people wake up feeling trapped. They’re trapped in their minds. They’re trapped in their situations. They’re trapped in relationships. They’re trapped in doing what they think they need to do, just to keep a roof over their head. My guests on this show are sex workers. [POLICE SIRENS] -I ran away from home at 15, and um, I got into prostitution right away. -I am an escort, and I know that my family is not happy about that. I do it to take care of me and my kids. Excuse me. I’m sorry. IYANLA: My guests are trapped in conditions and circumstances that strips them of their dignity and respect. -Over the years it’s been my main source of income. It was a sense of independence, fast money. It’s somethin’ that I don’t wanna do. It’s taken a toll on me, physically and mentally. It’s a violation of my privacy. -In my home town, it’s a small town, and you can’t get a job. So you have to resort to other stuff. You might not want to, but it is what it is. IYANLA: It’s really interesting what people will do when they feel trapped.
