Енергетики протестують проти звільнення керівника «Енергоатому» Юрія НедашковськогоOn December 2, 2019 by Raul Dinwiddie
People, who gathered near energy ministry today, were demanding not to dismiss the person fighting against the import of Russian electricity. The sector workers are protesting against the dismissal of Energoatom’s head, Yurii Nedashkivskyi. Over a hundred of people were demanding explanations of such a decision. Recently, the Cabinet has confirmed the intention to dismiss the head of the largest national power generation company, who, by the way, was one of the developers of the program for Ukraine’s integration with the European energy grid. NPPs employees fear termination of the sector’s development, reduction in power generation and and termination of cooperation with Europe in favor of importation of Russia’s electricity. I would like to remind that we started to procure electric energy in October once the head of the parliamentary energy committee, Andrii Herus, lobbied respective amendments to the Ukrainian legislation. When a Khmelnytskyi nuclear power unit is being reconnected to the energy grid and at the morning conference call we hear about introduction of the balance limitations… That means that the unit designed to produce millions of kWh of electric energy has to produce only 75%! At the same time, we are buying someone else’s electric energy… from the country we are in war with! That is just mindboggling! His principled position as for the European choice was most probably the major reason for his dismissal. We want our questions as for his dismissal to be answered.
